We found that Shake Shack is a very innovative business based on the way they run their fast-food chains. From having buzzers to indicate your order is ready to a section of the menu dedicated to pets, Shake Shack operates in a way that appeals to the new generation. The menu is simple, but large and easy to read and understand, but shows variety by offering exclusive wine and even treats for "those with four feet". The interior of the establishment is actually quite small, but they make up for that by having seats available outside and giving us buzzers after we order. In addition, the separate lines for "order" and "pick up" make the process run more efficiently. Now customers don't have to wait impatiently in line to pick up their food and fewer orders get mixed up.
Through Shake Shack, businesses can learn that an inclusive, relaxing environment is important for success. The counters were not being blocked by people, customers were encouraged to sit down to wait for their food, and all are encouraged to come eat.
This was a cultural experience for Prem because he has never eaten a hamburger before. We encouraged Prem to have an open mindset and to step outside of his comfort zone. He ended up ordering one and to his surprise, he loved it!
